Don't miss my
review of
Sin Nombre, the latest Sundance-wooing immigration movie. In this kinetic and beautiful Western-updating chase film, Cary Joji Fukunaga keeps the action coming and renders it all with beautiful cinematography and sharp editing. Sadly, this doesn't leave much time for us to pause and ask whether this deathrace to the border is worthwhile. Are the hardships of illegal immigration worth the supposed pay-off? Is making a movie about said hardships without asking the broader questions worthwhile? Read
my review to find out.
